Shelter SA

Shelter SA is the peak body for housing in South Australia advocating for improved housing outcomes for all citizens, including people who are living on low incomes.

 

Shelter SA conducts systems advocacy, policy and legislative work, research and community consultation to achieve its objectives. Shelter SA is a not-for-profit association incorporated in 1977 and is funded through the State Government Housing Minister’s Advisory Fund. 

 

The Board is seeking to recruit new members whose values align with those of the organisation, and who have the capacity and interest to make a contribution to the organisation. 

 

Board members are elected at the October AGM for a two-year period.  Board meetings are held every two months on the 3rd Monday of the month. The Board is seeking expressions of interest from applicants who have some governance experience and knowledge of the community services sector and/or some of the following areas:

  • Housing policy, legislation and service delivery
  • Advocacy
  • Politics, media
  • Accountancy, financial management
  • Human resources
  • Strategic planning

People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse background are also encouraged to apply.
